The Major: Charity Hurts…

For Ann…

On Saturday, October 14th 2017, at 11am, at Bramham Park in Leeds, 13 members of the Racks Industries team took their places on the starting line of “The Major: Amphibious Assault.”  A Military level assault course designed to test the best.  They were staring down the throat of 5 miles of pain, suffering, exhaustion, mud, water and stench.

From left to right, the intrepid bunch risking life, limb and dignity were… Andy Oates, Liam Taylor, Allan Miles-Turner, Shawn Williamson, Chris Wilson, Darren Hibberd, Jack Brown, Shane Robb, Owen Williamson, Danny Greaves, Josh Bellamy, Anthony Ward, and Adam Millward.   Although they all finished with varying times, collectively they ended up looking like this…

They all suffered this to raise money for the Sue Ryder Foundation Hospice, Manorlands.  This outstanding palliative care facility provides much needed treatment and support for patients and their families at the hardest of times.  Earlier this year, they cared for our friend and co-worker Ann-Parsons Firth.  Ann’s passing left a hole in the daily life of Racks Industries that remains open and raw to this day.  It was for that reason that Allan Miles Turner decided to organise this group effort… to honour Ann’s memory, pay tribute to our absent friend and to help the people who will care for those who are destined to follow her.

Collectively, we thank Allan and all the lads who gave their time, sweat and stamina to raise money for this wonderful cause.  We thank the customers and family members who’s sponsership supported them.  Finally, we thank Ann… just for being who she was.

Rest easy, sweetheart… we’ve saved you a parking space.
